I thought I loved Alfredo sauce, but until you have made the homemade thing—you have not lived. An authentic Alfredo sauce from scratch is heads and shoulders above anything canned. Surprisingly easy to make, it's worth the extra little effort over opening a jar.

ALFREDO SAUCE
Ingredients
3 Tbsp butter
8 oz heavy whipping cream
¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
¼ cup grated Romano cheese
1 pinch ground nutmeg
Salt to taste
1 egg yolk
Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Stir in cream. Add Parmesan cheese, Romano cheese, nutmeg, and salt; stir until cheese has melted.
Whisk in egg yolk until well combined; simmer and stir over medium-low heat for 3 to 5 minutes.
SERVE WITH
Meat of your choice—I love it with a rare Ribeye!
